A postdoc position in Neurophysiology and Epilepsy is available in the lab of Dr. Catherine Christian at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (www.christianlab.org).
This position is for an NIH-funded project investigating the neural and pituitary mechanisms underlying reproductive endocrine disorders that are comorbid with epilepsy. The particular focus of this position will be to determine cellular and circuit-level functional and anatomical disruptions in the hypothalamic control of reproduction in a mouse model of temporal lobe epilepsy. These experiments will involve a variety of approaches and tools including patch clamp electrophysiology, EEG, stereotactic surgeries, optogenetics/chemogenetics, calcium/voltage imaging, immunohistochemistry, and transgenic mouse models.
A Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Neurobiology, Physiology, or a related field is required. Candidates close to defending the dissertation will be considered.
