Postdoctoral position available immediately in the laboratory of Dr. Jeff Taskerin the Department of Cell & Molecular Biology and Tulane Brain Institute, Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, as part of a new NIH-funded project to study the traumatic stress plasticity of hypothalamic CRH neurons and neuroimmune interactions. Preliminary studies reveal stress-induced desensitization of noradrenergic signaling in CRH neurons induced by nongenomic glucocorticoid modulation of adrenoreceptor trafficking. The current project will investigate cell signaling mechanisms of rapid glucocorticoid actions, stress circuit plasticity, and physiological consequences of stress desensitization for neuro-immune integration using genetic models, genetic manipulations, and electrophysiological, molecular, imaging, and behavioral approaches. The person filling this position will perform in vitro and in vivo cell type-specific cellular and circuit-based analyses.
The Tulane Brain Institute was founded in 2016 to integrate and coordinate neuroscience research and training across the three Tulane campuses, the main campus, the Tulane Health Science Center, and the Tulane Primate Center. The Brain Institute is the fastest growing academic and research program at Tulane, and offers many opportunities for stimulating interaction with neuroscientists, graduate students, and undergraduate students across the campus. The current position is located on the Tulane main campus, situated in the scenic uptown region of New Orleans at the bend in the crescent of the Mississippi River, across the street from Audubon Park and the Audubon Zoo.
