The Scafidi Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Fellow to join our team and conduct research at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine. Our research is focused on investigating adaptive and maladaptive metabolic processes in the brain following injury. This current NIH-funded 5-year project will examine perturbations in metabolism after traumatic brain injury in animal and cell models.
The candidate should have a recent MD or PhD in a biomedical field (neuroscience is preferred), be a strong team player, demonstrate independence, and have an interest in working with graduate and undergraduate students. The candidate should also have strong communication skills (oral and written). Salary compensation is according to NIH-set stipends, commensurate with experience and benefits.
The Scafidi Lab is part of the highly collaborative Basic and Translational Research Division, allowing close interactions with other laboratories. This position will provide opportunities to the post-doctoral fellow to develop unique expertise in metabolism, molecular biology, and biochemistry. The post-doctoral fellow will have an opportunity to learn and use imaging and advanced microscopy techniques, mouse genetics and breeding, processing and analysis of metabolomics data, and lipid and glucose biochemistry.
The position is available immediately.
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and CV to Susanna Scafidi at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please, include in the subject line your last name, first name, and your interest in Post-doctoral Application.
