Postdoctoral research position available. My lab studies dopamine, decision-making and corticostriatal plasticity using mouse genetic tools, fast-scan cyclic voltammetry, patch-clamp electrophyiosology, optogenetics and fiber photometry together with multiple behavioral paradigms, particularly semi-naturalistic, homecage operant paradigms. The position will involve both physiological and behavioral methods, with a goal of linking phyiology and behavior as much as possible. A key focus of the lab is understanding how dopamine and its modulation of corticostriatal plasticity mediates economic decision-making, with an emphasis on how information about resources, both internal and external, are integrated into this decision-making. The position requires skills in experimental design, data analysis, trouble-shooting and problem-solving, and effective oral and written communication. A suitable candidate will have prior training with at least one physiological method (cyclic voltammetry, electrophysiology, optogenetics, etc.) and/or willingness to learn and develop skills in other methods.
Queens College is located in the borough of Queens in New York City and is part of City College New York (CUNY). The CUNY schools as well as the many Universities in NYC make a rich scientific environment for pursuing postdoctoral work and developing a scientific research agenda, as well as a great city in which to live. A number of potential projects are available and the postdoc will have considerable leeway in selecting and developing a project of the greatest interest to them.
To apply, candidates should email their CV, contact information for three references and a cover letter describing research interests, skills and accomplishments to firstname.lastname@example.org.
1. PhD in Neuroscience or related field 2. Experience in neuroscience research 3. Experience and skill in at least one physiological method (electrophysiology, optogenetics, cyclic voltammetry, fiber photometry, etc.)
