The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on behavioral pharmacology and multimodal imaging projects (fMRI, MRS, DWI, etc.) involving integrated behavior/imaging conducted on 3T and 9.4T MR platforms.
Several preclinical research projects are currently underway: 1) characterizing the role of serotonin receptor subtypes in abuse-related behavioral effects of opioids, 2) evaluating the capacity of novel compounds to selectively reduce self-administration of abused drugs without other adverse consequences, 3) examining the role of drug history in behavioral and neural responses to monoaminergic drugs, and 4) identifying neural “signatures” associated with the behavioral effects of abused drugs from various pharmacological classes.
Recent Ph.D. with some experience in conducting neuroimaging research and with a relevant background, e.g., psychology, neuroscience, or pharmacology.
Experience and interest in programming (Matlab, Python, etc.), MR data processing, and complex data analysis.
Candidates with a successful publication history will be given priority.
Qualified women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.
The selected candidate will be proposed for academic appointment as a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at HMS. The initial appointment will be for two years with the possibility of extension.
