A postdoctoral research position is available at the University of California, Los Angeles Department of Neurosurgery in the Neuroplasticity and Repair Laboratory directed by Daniel C. Lu, MD, PhD.
Dr. Lu’s lab studies neural networks within the spinal cord and leverages this insight to develop interventions that recover motor function after spinal cord injury. Work in our basic science laboratory translates directly to a bevy of ongoing and upcoming clinical trials. The ideal candidate will be comfortable in both settings. We are seeking individuals with a strong background in some of the following areas: neurophysiology, molecular biology, genetic techniques, and mouse and rat surgery; functional kinematic testing and data analysis; electrophysiology of cultured central nervous system tissue with special interest in the spinal cord; or a combination thereof.
Qualified candidates will have a PhD or MD or both. We are seeking an independent, motivated individual with excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Interested applicants should send a cover letter describing their past and future research interests and an academic Curriculum Vitae to Dr. Daniel C. Lu’s attention using the provided contact information. Please include the names and contact information of three references.
