ELECTROPHYSIOLOGIST/NEUROSCIENTIST: NEUROTRANSMITTER RELEASE AND SYNAPTIC VESICLE RECYCLING The laboratory of Susan Voglmaier at UCSF in the Department of Psychiatry and the Weill Institute for Neurosciences has a postdoctoral training opportunity available to study mechanisms of synaptic vesicle recycling and neurotransmitter release. The project broadly seeks to understand the differential regulation of presynaptic mechanisms in cortical and subcortical glutamatergic pathways, with a particular emphasis on schizophrenia. Doctoral degree and substantive experience in patch clamp electrophysiology are essential. Experience in slice recording and/or optical imaging would be a plus. This is a funded position and would be expected to continue for at least 3 years depending on satisfactory performance. Superb opportunity to work collaboratively with molecular and cellular neurobiologists, as a member of the large, vibrant UCSF Neuroscience Program, the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences, and the Kavli Institute for Fundamental Neuroscience. Successful candidate will also have the opportunity to present work at local and national scientific meetings (e.g. Society for Neuroscience).
