The Neuroscience Initiative of the CUNY Advanced Science Research Center (ASRC) in Manhattan, NY, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank to join a vibrant and multidisciplinary research effort. We seek outstanding post-doctoral scientists with strong records of significant research accomplishments in the fields of: glial biology or multi-scale biology with a neuroscience focus. Areas of special interests include: epigenetic regulation of gene expression, neuron/glia communication, environmental effects on glial cells, glial/glial communication, glia function in learning, behavior and disease.
Candidates with expertise in bioinformatics or multi-scale biology will be expected to demonstrate evidence of success in using computational tools to answer outstanding biological questions in the field of neurobiology and psychiatry.

The Assistant Professor is expected to serve a major role in shaping an outstanding research mission at the ASRC, while fulfilling the educational mission of the New York City Public University System at CUNY.

The position will begin in Fall 2019 to Spring 2020 and will report to the Initiative Director of the Neuroscience Initiative.
Qualifications: Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
Successful candidates are expected to have advanced degrees (Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent) in any area of biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, plus three (3) years of post-doctoral research experience. A commitment to conducting high-level scientific research and adopting interdisciplinary approaches, is highly valued, as well as a collaborative spirit and passion for education.
