Dr. Catherine Kaczorowski and her lab group seek a Computational Scientist to join their research team. The focus of the Kaczorowski lab is to understand the genetics underlying cognition, Alzheimer’s and aging-related dementias and to identify the biological basis for resilience to cognitive symptoms. The Computational Scientist participates in the Kaczorowski Lab’s collaborative research programs focused on learning and memory behavior and age-related disease including Alzheimer’s. The integration of genetic, genomic, and phenomic data resources presents a unique opportunity to the candidate selected for this role, to work both independently and collaboratively. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Analysis of systems genetics data generated within research programs focused on resilience to aging.
Generation of new computational tools, serving in an expert and leadership role for assigned projects.
Integration of data into public databases, ensuring data quality.
Mapping QTLs from behavioral and multi-scale omics data.
Writing manuscripts and grants.
Participating in internal and external meetings and conferences to present research results.
PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Biostatistics or any relevant area. Candidates nearing the completion of their PhD may also apply.
Successful incumbents demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated experience managing projects and collaborations.
Prior successes in and desire to contribute to team projects on an ongoing basis is a must.
Based on experience, individuals may be considered for Assistant/Associate/Full Computational Scientist.
