A post-doctoral position is available in the laboratory of Olujimi Ajijola at UCLA. The Ajijola lab is an multidisciplinary lab that studies mechanisms of cardiac autonomic control in small and large animals, and in humans. We are specifically interested in the pathways that govern structural and functional neural remodeling after cardiac injury (e.g. myocardial infarction), and how remodeled innervation contributes to heart failure and arrhythmias. We use a variety of tools in murine models of cardiac disease to map cardiac neurons in the peripheral nervous system, and use chemical, surgical, and genetic tools to target these neurons.
Interested candidates should send full CV, personal statement of interest and names of two referees familiar with the candidate’s scientific work and experience to Olujimi Ajijola MD PhD, firstname.lastname@example.org
Candidate should be well versed in handling and performing rodent surgeries, as well as colony maintenance, breeding and genotyping. Additionally, skills in molecular biology and standard research techniques including cell culture, PCR, Western blot etc. Skills in fluorescent microscopy are viewed favorably.
