The Department of Biological Sciences at Duquesne University, Pittsburgh PA, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor. Successful candidates will join a group of faculty with expertise in neuroscience, cell biology, molecular biology, physiology, microbiology, and evolutionary and ecological genetics working within a robust and collaborative research environment across departments and schools on campus. Duquesne University hosts the Chronic Pain Research Consortium (www.duq.edu/pain) representing over 20 basic scientists and clinicians in pain and has a robust group of neuroscientists across five schools on campus.
Duquesne is committed to the teacher-scholar model, where excellence is expected in both education and research. The successful applicant will develop a vigorous, externally-funded, independent research program within the broad areas of developmental biology, organismal biology, or cell/molecular biology, and will be expected to contribute to teaching in one of our undergraduate concentrations (Evolutionary and Organismal Biology, Physiology, or Molecular Biology), and will develop a graduate course in their area of expertise. Applicants are expected to mentor PhD and undergraduate students in their laboratory. Competitive salary and start-up packages are available.
