The laboratory of Dr. Ryan Butler at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas is hiring a neuroscientist to study the neural and molecular changes to chronic pain which lead to behavioral adaptations such as alcohol and drug addiction. The projects will be a collaborative effort between the Butler lab and the laboratories of Drs. Steve Shabel and David Self (https://www.utsouthwestern.edu/education/medical-school/departments/psychiatry/research/basic/) The experiments will involve small animal surgical skills, routine wet lab skills, routine histology skills, and data analysis.
The applicant will organize, conduct, and analyze experiments under direct supervision of Dr. Butler using addiction and electrophysiological experiments in Drs. Shabel and Self’s laboratories as part of a multidisciplinary team. Please submit resume and cover letter to:

The position requires previous technical experience in mouse behavior and will use single-cell sequencing approaches, slice and in vivo electrophysiology and imaging. A mature, responsible and reliable demeanor, hands-on knack for problem solving, and a strong work ethic are necessary for this position. Candidate must have or be about to receive a Doctoral Degree.
