POSTDOCTORAL POSITION (Romanski laboratory, Dept. of Neuroscience, Ernest J. Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience, University of Rochester School of Medicine)
Applications are invited for the position of Postdoctoral researcher, at the University of Rochester School of Medicine to study multisensory integration and cognitive processing of face and vocal information in the primate Frontal and Temporal lobes. Our work focuses on understanding the features of communication information that are encoded and integrated by prefrontal neurons recorded as single units and neuronal ensembles. Previous work in our laboratory has shown that neurons in the prefrontal cortex are involved in remembering and integrating face and vocal information (Sugihara et al., 2006; Plakke et al., 2015; Hwang et al., 2015). Future work is aimed at examining interactions between connected regions of the prefrontal cortex and the temporal lobes.
This NIH fully funded position is available immediately and is renewable for 3 years, pending review, with the possibility for continuation. Applicants should have a PhD in neuroscience, biology, psychology or other related field. A strong quantitative background, excellent communication skills and experience in neurophysiology are needed for this position. Experience in animal training and behavioral methods is a plus.
