Proficiency in conducting drug treatment studies and knowledge of signal transduction pathways important in cancer is preferred.
The main of Mehta Laboratory is to identify the molecular mechanisms utilized by the glioma stem cells to evade therapy and cause tumor recurrence (see some of our related publications: Kupp et al., Cell Reports 2016 and Singh et al., Cell Reports 2016). Our laboratory is also part of the translational team at the Ivy Brain Tumor Center which focuses on cutting-edge early phase clinical trials at the Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix, Arizona.
The newly recruited member will be joining a team of students/ trainees that includes motivated graduate, undergraduate, and high school students, awesome research staff and a highly collaborative team of scientist within the Barrow Neurological Institute. About Barrow Neurological Institute/Ivy Brain Tumor Center
Barrow Neurological Institute is the world's largest neurological disease treatment and research institution and is consistently ranked as one of the best neurosurgical training centers in the United States. Scientists and clinicians at Barrow Neurological Institute are engaged in laboratory-based, preclinical research and in human subjects’ studies. Long-range goals, of course, are to develop superior treatments for devastating neurological conditions, to prevent disease, and to improve tools for disease detection and diagnosis. We also seek to understand basic biologic mechanisms underlying health and how they are maladaptive in neurologic diseases. Investigators at Barrow employ a matrix of often-overlapping disciplines in science and technology. These scientific disciplines also have, in common, reliance upon highly trained and skilled individuals driven by their thirst for knowledge and discovery.
Similarly, work at Barrow covers virtually every neurological condition, ranging from neurodegenerative disorders to addictions. A Barrow advantage is the closeness of scientist-physician interactions, enabling bi-directional bench-to-clinical bedside translation as well as be...dside-to-bench inquiry.
The Ivy Brain Tumor Center is a nonprofit clinical trials program that offers state-of-the-art clinical trials for patients with even the most aggressive brain tumors. Our center was founded to provide new avenues of hope for patients and families struggling with aggressive brain tumors. Our philosophy is to deploy scientifically rigorous and technologically advanced clinical trials that rapidly evaluate new therapeutic regimens and are tailored to exploit and attack individual tumor biologies.
