NIH post-doctoral position available to study neuronal and glial responses to neuroinflammation in neurodegenerative diseases with a focus on Alzheimer Disease and HIV associated neurocognitive disorders. Mechanisms of particular interest include the endoplasmic reticulum stress response, the endogenous antioxidant response and the amyloid processing cascade. Projects related to the role for RNA binding proteins in neuronal and glial responses to excitotoxicity and/or inflammation are also available. A competitive candidate will have a PhD or equivalent in neuroscience, biochemistry, molecular biology or cellular biology and be self-motivated and capable of independently leading a research project and preparing manuscripts under the mentor's supervision. Experience with bioinformatic analysis is a plus. The post-doctoral candidate will have the opportunity to use cutting edge technologies in microscopy, single-cell and bulk RNA seq, induced pluripotent stems cell culture, transgenic mice, and protein interaction profile sequencing.
