A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Gulcin Pekkurnaz in the Section of Neurobiology at the University of California San Diego.
The newly established Pekkurnaz laboratory studies mitochondrial regulation of neuronal metabolism. We are interested in understanding the interplay between metabolism and mitochondrial function across distinct cell classes in the nervous system under both physiological and pathological conditions. Approaches employed include molecular biology, cell culture, metabolic flux analysis, mouse genetics, neurodegenerative disease models, biochemistry, proteomics, live-cell and super-resolution microscopy.
