This position maintains day-to-day operations of the Psychopharmacology Laboratory’s in-vivo screening assays for the COBRE Phase III, Neuropharmacology Core. This includes maintaining laboratory AAALAC accreditation, IACUC compliance, training, scheduling and supervising research assistants, ordering laboratory supplies, maintenance of laboratory equipment, management of all data collection procedures and data analyses primarily for rodent-based drug screening assays. Avian- and fish-based screening assays are also employed.
Coordination and execution of in-vivo screening of compounds derived from natural products in models of addiction, nociception, stress-related disorders and memory, among others. Assays include conditioned place preference, hot plate, Hargreaves, von Frey, forced swim test, elevated plus, open field, rotarod, Barnes maze, etc. Laboratory data acquisition software include Med Associates (CPP), Noldus Ethovision (EPM and FST) and Topcat Metrology (CIN).
