Postdoctoral research positions are available for highly motivated individuals interested in cellular and molecular mechanisms of auditory perception and cognitive and sensory abnormalities in mouse models for neuropsychiatric diseases, such as schizophrenia, 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, and Williams-Beuren syndrome (Blundon et al., Science, 2017, Chun et al., Science 2014, Chun et al., Nature Medicine 2017). The successful candidate will join a diverse team of researchers who are working to understand behavior at the levels of neural circuits, individual neurons, synapses, and molecules. The laboratory is part of the Department of Developmental Neurobiology. Members have access to specialized departmental shared resources, including an integrated support structure for rodent behavior testing, 3-dimensional brain organoid development, in vivo and ex vivo imaging, bioinformatics, production of genetically engineered animal models, single-cell profiling, and advanced image processing and analysis. In addition, numerous institutional shared resources and core facilities support the laboratory by providing expertise and state-of-the-art technologies.
Preference will be given to applicants who have received their PhD degree within the last 3 years and have experience with single-cell electrophysiology (in slices or in vivo), 2-photon laser-scanning imaging, optogenetics, or chemogenetics. The fellows will benefit from the outstanding collegial environment in the laboratory and the highly collaborative research community at St. Jude.
