Postdoctoral Fellow McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School
A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Balu laboratory in the Basic Neuroscience Division at McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School (HMS) affiliate. The Balu laboratory is a translational neuroscience laboratory that uses a multidisciplinary approach to: 1) study how serine racemase and D-serine regulate NMDA receptor (NMDAR) activity, 2) determine how NMDAR hypofunction contributes to the pathophysiology of schizophrenia, 3) test novel compounds that enhance NMDAR function for potential therapeutic efficacy, and 4) understand how reactive glial D-serine is involved in Alzheimer’s Disease and traumatic brain injury. Mouse genetics and viral techniques, in combination with biochemistry, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, and behavior, are utilized to address scientific questions.

A PhD or MD/PhD in neuroscience, pharmacology, or related discipline, as well as experience working with rodents (mouse preferred) are required.
