The Human Sleep Research Program works in tandem with the Neuroscience Program in the Center for Health Sciences, Bioscience Division at SRI International to conduct studies about sleep and the EEG as well as magnetic resonance imaging-based studies of the human and animal brain, using state of the art imaging and computing equipment. The successful candidate will join an internationally renowned lab with a highly multi-disciplinary working environment.
The successful applicant will primarily work on a project about sleep, central and autonomic nervous system functioning in adolescents, with a focus on the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying insomnia.
The successful applicant will be expected to complete all the aspects of the project (data collection, reduction and analysis, data presentation, preparation of manuscripts for publication), and develop new research initiatives.
Opportunities to pursue independent funding (e.g., through NIH grant proposals) will be provided and encouraged.
This postdoctoral fellow is full time and expected to last one year, renewable upon mutual agreement. We anticipate a start date of September 2018.
PhD degree in physiology, neuroscience, psychology, or a related field.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational skills.
Fluent in English (oral and written).
Highly motivated, self-starter and independent. Must be a team player.
Expertise in the fields of sleep and/or cardiovascular research is preferred.
A post-offer, pre-laboratory physical examination may be required. Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment will be subject to a background check.
