The Director, Center for Scientific Review provides leadership, vision, and direction to the Center and advises the NIH Director and Institute and Center (IC) Directors on the development of NIH-wide scientific initiatives and policy issues related to ensuring that NIH grant and fellowship applications receive fair, independent, expert and timely reviews, free from inappropriate influences, so that NIH can fund the most promising research.

Applicants must possess an M.D., Ph.D., or comparable doctorate degree in the health sciences field or other related field, plus senior-level scientific experience and knowledge of research programs in one or more health science areas. Applicants should be known and respected within their profession as individuals of scientific prominence, with a distinguished record of research accomplishments and expertise in policy development regarding grant review.
