Neurophysiology of Alzheimer's disease
The Jankowsky laboratory at the Baylor College of Medicine seeks an experienced slice electrophysiologist to study circuit plasticity in mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease. Successful candidates will join a collaborative team at BCM examining the potential for restorative plasticity within the entorhinal cortex following damage to the perforant path. The position offers the opportunity to learn mouse genetics, viral transgenesis, and behavioral analysis from our group, in return, we seek someone who can bring cortico-hippocampal neurophysiology to this and other projects ongoing in the lab.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in neuroscience or a related discipline and have at least 5 years experience in whole-cell patch clamp and extracellular field potential recordings from acute rodent brain slices. The ideal candidate will be trained in hippocampal synaptic plasticity and familiar with recording from the tri-synaptic circuit. Applicants should be highly self-motivated, have outstanding experimental skills, and be able to think and work independently. Effective communication and collaboration is essential to the success of this project and will be required for this position.
Additional Salary Information: Salary will be commensurate with experience. This position can be filled at the level of postdoctoral fellow, staff scientist, or instructor, depending on qualifications and candidate preference.
