The Department of Neuroscience & Experimental Therapeutics at Albany Medical College has had an unexpected vacancy to start a tenure track position in 2018. Please submit your applications by June 30th, 2018. We will have an additional position opening for 2019 which we will announce at the end of the summer.
Our department has a long standing history of excellence in neuroscience, pharmacology and non-pharmacological interventions. We value mentorship and offer a structured junior faculty development program. We are looking for the right candidate as opposed to a candidate in a particular field of neuroscience, though we will ensure we have the proper existing faculty to support new investigators. There is no teaching requirement. Either directly at AMC or close by in the surrounding area, we have access to most state of the art equipment required for a wide range of neuroscience. Three new faculty have joined our group in the last 2 years and we are anticipate two additional hires in the next year.
Applicants are expected to have a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent), at least three years of postdoctoral research experience in Neuroscience or a related discipline, and an excellent record of research productivity. Applicants at the Assistant Professor level should demonstrate a strong potential for developing an independent research program.
All applicants must apply electronically and submit the following information in one electronic file (preferably PDF): a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement (up to 4 pages) of research interests and teaching philosophy, and the names of at least three academic referees. Applicants must arrange for academic references to be sent to the Search Committee Chair. All documents, including pre-arranged confidential letters of reference, can be sent via email to the attention of Dr. Russ Ferland, Search Committee Chair atDNETfacultysearch@gmail.com.
