Postdoctoral Position – Department of Neurobiology
University of Alabama at Birmingham
April 12, 2018
Full Time - Entry Level
Academic / Research
The Overstreet-Wadiche laboratory in the Department of Neurobiology is seeking a creative and motivated postdoctoral fellow. The lab uses transgenic mouse models to study the contribution of different cell types, including adult-born neurons and GABAergic interneurons, to the function of the dentate gyrus. Recent projects have focused on understanding the physiological properties of adult-born neurons (Dieni et al., Journal Neuroscience, 2013; Nature Communications, 2016) and showing how adult neurogenesis modifies synaptic connectivity of the existing circuit (Adlaf et al., Elife, 2017).
The University of Alabama at Birmingham is committed to the development and success of outstanding postdoctoral scientists. Here at UAB, nearly 250 postdocs are training currently in a variety of disciplines, including but not limited to engineering, medicine, natural sciences & mathematics, public health, and optometry.
The UAB Office of Postdoctoral Education and the UAB Postdoc Association work together to develop career opportunities that enhance and define the training experience for all postdoctoral scholars at UAB.
Because of its commitment to the success of postdoctoral fellows, UAB ranks consistently as one of the top locations among US universities for training postdoctoral scholars.
The ideal postdoctoral candidate will be dedicated to basic research with strong analytical and communication skills. Preferences will be given to candidates with experience in electrophysiological or imaging methods, but highly motivated candidates with alternate experience are also encouraged to apply. Interested individuals should contact Linda Overstreet-Wadiche directly and provide a brief summary of past and future research interests, CV and references (firstname.lastname@example.org).
