Description of postdoctoral position: The Kai Zhang lab at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is seeking a motivated individual for a postdoctoral position to study the molecular and cellular mechanisms of synaptic plasticity in Fragile-X syndrome with high-resolution optogenetic strategies. The Zhang lab utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to investigate the signaling outcome of neurotrophin during cell differentiation and embryonic development (Development 2016, (143) 4085; JMB 2017(429),2999).
Qualifications: The position requires that the applicant has a PhD in molecular/cell biology or neuroscience. Prior experience working with primary hippocampal neuronal cell cultures, live cell imaging, and optogenetics is desirable. The candidate should be highly motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English are also desired.
Appointment: The initial appointment will be for two years. The position is available immediately and applications will be considered until the position is filled. Salary is commensurate with experience, according to NIH guidelines.
