A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Dr. Jay Bikoff, beginning in spring/summer 2018.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual interested in understanding the functional organization of neural circuits that control movement. Current projects focus on cell-type diversity within the spinal cord, and how descending systems in the brain convey information to different types of interneurons in the spinal motor system. We are also interested in exploring the functional roles of spinal inhibitory interneurons in motor output.
Because these neuroscience projects take advantage of a highly multidisciplinary approach, including mouse and viral genetic tools, single-cell genomics, whole-brain imaging with light-sheet microscopy, and mouse behavior, we are excited to recruit scientists with many different backgrounds, talents, and interests. Preference will be given to applicants who have received their PhD in the past 1-3 years. It is expected that the candidate will develop their own research project, interact collaboratively with other members of the lab, and have excellent oral and written communication skills. The Bikoff lab has a strong commitment to mentoring and training lab members at all stages of their scientific career.
