The Yamanaka-Ohmura Lab is a research group at the Chinese Institute for Brain Research, Beijing (CIBR). The CIBR was founded in 2018 and has constructed an efficient research environment by providing several supporting facilities, such as the virus vector core and the imaging facility core. We are studying the neural mechanisms of sleep/wakefulness regulation and emotion/cognition by using mice. We are seeking efficient, responsible, and dedicated personnel for our new laboratory. 2. Job description
Positions are available for highly motivated and collaborative young scientists who are interested in the neural mechanisms underlying sleep/wakefulness, emotion/cognition, and these interactions. We invite applications for a one-year, full-time position with a flexible start date and the possibility of successive appointments for up to two or three additional years (total four years maximum). We will consider the situation of the candidates about the start date as much as we can, especially when the applicants are Ph.D. candidates. 3. Qualifications (required)
A. Have or will obtain a Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Physiology, Pharmacology, Cell Biology, or related fields
B. Under 35 years of age at the time of application
  Note: The limit can be extended to 40 years if you have special reasons. If so, please state the particular reasons in the application; it will be considered based on the applicant's ability and achievements
C. A team player who shares knowledge and expertise with lab members
D. At least 1 year experience in rodent studies
E. Proficient in one of the following experiments:
a. Electrophysiology: slice patch clamp, extracellular recordings using silicon probe, or EEG/EMG recordings
b. In vivo imaging (e.g., fiber photometry)
c. Neural manipulation using optogenetics or chemogenetics
d. Behavior analysis using rodents
e. Minimum English skills required for research communication (English is the primary language used at the CIBR)

4. Qualifications (preferred)
A. Proficient in molecular biology, cell biology of neuronal and glial cells, or immunohistochemical study of the brain
B. Computational or programming skills (e.g., Matlab, Python, etc.)
C. Publications in rigorous peer-reviewed international journals as a first author

6. Salary/Benefits:
We will provide an internationally competitive starting yearly salary range from CNY 200,000-400,000 (approximately USD 27,000 - 55,000, including social insurance costs) depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
Salary raises are available depending on performance.
Additional benefits, including supplementary medical insurance, welfare benefits, family benefits, and housing subsidies (3000 RMB/month), will also be provided.
Please note that China's living costs are relatively lower than most developed countries (The big mac index: USA 5.69, UK 5.71, China 3.47).
