The Department of Neurobiology and Behavior at the University of California, Irvine, invites applications for a
tenure-track Assistant Professor position. Recognized as one of the leading neuroscience programs in the
country, the department is committed to advancing the understanding of neurobiology through interdisciplinary
research. We seek outstanding candidates whose research focuses on the molecular neurobiology of Alzheimer’s
disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. Preference will be given to individuals whose work incorporates
cutting-edge neuroscientific techniques utilizing both human and animal tissue to drive innovative and impactful
research. Applicants should hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, seek to establish a vigorous and highly
competitive research program, and to contribute to teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

extensive resources, including the Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurologic Disorders (iMIND) and
Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (ADRC). Researchers will also benefit from collaborations across UCI’s
Beall Applied Innovation, the Institute for Precision Health, the Center for Neurotherapeutics), the Sue and Bill
Gross Stem Cell Research Center (SCRC), and the Center for Neurobiology of Learning and Memory, among
others.
To apply, candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, a 3-page research statement detailing their area of
expertise, the significance of their contributions, and a plan for their future independent research program that
synergizes with UCI’s strengths and secures extramural funding. Additionally, a 1-page teaching statement
should describe their teaching experience, approaches, and effectiveness, including how they plan to engage
UCI's diverse student population and mentor others. A 1-page inclusive excellence activities statement should
highlight their awareness of challenges faced by underrepresented groups, past contributions to reducing
barriers in education or research, and plans to further contribute to diversity and inclusion. Candidates must also
provide contact information for three referees, who will only be contacted if the candidate progresses in the
selection process. Applications must be submitted by December 1, 2024.
