Postdoctoral researcher in glial biology and neuroinflammation at Texas A&M University
A postdoctoral position is immediately available in Jianrong Li lab (https://vibs.tamu.edu/person/397/) at the Department of Veterinary Integrative Biosciences and Texas A&M Institute for Neuroscience, Texas A&M University. The lab focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of central nervous system demyelination and myelin repair, particularly neuroinflammation and neuron-glia interactions. The successful candidates will be investigating novel mechanisms linking oligodendrocyte dysfunction to brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, as well as the role of sphingolipid ceramides in these processes.
As our studies use a wide range of experimental approaches, including cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, lipid biology, immunofluorescence microscopy, and transgenic animal models, ideal candidates should have a strong research background in one or more of these areas, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The candidate is expected to drive the project while also be a team player who upholds high scientific standards. The candidate will have access to high-quality research facilities, close mentorship, and opportunities for career development.
Required qualifications:
We encourage applications from self-motivated, career-orientated individuals who hold a recent PhD or are nearing completion in neuroscience, cell biology, or a related field, with less than 3 years of postdoctoral research experiences. A strong track record of research productivity and excellent written and oral communication skills are required. Experience with mouse models and primary glia and neuron cultures is preferred but not mandatory.
Application Materials:
To be considered, please send the following items in one PDF file to Jianrong Li via email (jianrong.li@tamu.edu).
- A cover letter including a summary of your research experience, interests and career goals.
- Curriculum vitae including a list of publications with brief (1-3 sentences) descriptions of your contributions to the published work. Names and contact information of 3 references.
