Description
The Gerald Choa Neuroscience Institute (GCNI) is a newly established, university-level research institute at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Honouring the first Dean of CUHK’s Medical School, Prof Gerald Choa, the GCNI will consolidate and expand the neuroscience community, creating an internationally competitive research environment.
The Institute welcomes applications from individuals who are highly devoted to innovative neuroscience research and who value the opportunity to work in close collaboration with a talented and growing neuroscience community. The open positions are full-time non-clinical Assistant Professorships.
Applicants should have: (i) a PhD degree with post-doctoral training and working experience in neuroscience; (ii) a competitive track record of research and publication in highly regarded peer-reviewed neuroscience journals; (iii) a record of award of competitive fellowships or research grants; and (iv) the ability to work independently and with collaborative groups.
Appointees are expected to (a) develop significant independent research projects; (b) supervise postgraduate research students; and (c) perform a modest amount of teaching. Appointees will be provided with appropriate laboratory and office space, and a start-up package commensurate with their qualification and experience.
Appointments will normally be made on contract basis for 3 years initially, which, subject to performance, funding, and mutual agreement, may be renewed for another 3-year appointment, and finally, consideration of substantiation (i.e., ‘tenure’).
Applicants should submit an online application and attach (1) a curriculum vitae together with a publications list; and (2) the names and contact information of three referees.
