ABOUT THE BROAD/STANLEY CENTER
The mission of the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research at the Broad Institute is to discover novel therapeutics to ameliorate the burden of major psychiatric illnesses including schizophrenia, bipolar disorders by exploiting the emerging human genetics in the pathogenesis of psychiatric diseases as an effective window to study their biology and as clues for new therapeutics.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
The candidate will implement in vivo/ex vivo electrophysiological, and cellular assays to study circuit mechanisms of major psychiatric illnesses in the genetic models of psychiatric illnesses. The candidate will utilize an array of techniques including in vivo and ex vivo recordings, pharmacology, chemo- and optogenetic manipulations to analyze the role of genetic and environmental perturbation on the disease etiology and pathogenesis.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A recent doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Neuroscience or related field with solid training in ex vivo and/or in vivo electrophysiological recordings. Demonstrated technical proficiency in either whole cell patch clamp recordings in brain slices or LFP/single unit in vivo recordings of live animals.
- A scientific track record demonstrated by first author paper(s) published or accepted in a well-recognized journal.
- Rigorous scientific aptitude, taking initiative, and outstanding communication skills, to work in a collaborative environment
