The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) seeks to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Cellular and Molecular Neuroscience. Preference will be given to candidates with a research program complementing the strengths of the department; such as ion channels, synaptic and neuronal physiology, circuit physiology; endocrine and cardiometabolic homeostatic systems; and neurological disease. Expanding areas on campus include biomedical engineering, neurobiology of aging, and clinical neurology. The successful candidate is expected to maintain an independent, extramurally-funded research program and participate in the Departmental teaching mission. Opportunities for collaboration exist with faculty in multiple basic science and engineering departments across campus including those associated with the veterinary teaching hospital. Core facilities available include a light and electron microscopy imaging network (https://www.research.colostate.edu/min/) and the University’s Proteomics and Metabolomics Facility (https://www.research.colostate.edu/bio/). Many neuroscience faculty members participate in the Molecular, Cellular and Integrative Neurosciences (MCIN) (http://mcin.colostate.edu/) Program.
The individual selected for this position will be expected to teach within the undergraduate, graduate and/or professional (DVM, MD) programs. Teaching responsibilities will be in the general area of cellular/molecular physiology or neuroscience. The Department sponsors undergraduate majors in Biomedical Sciences and Neuroscience as well as MS and PhD graduate programs. Departmental faculty members also participate in DVM/PhD and postdoctoral training. Additional information about the BMS Department and faculty can be found at https://vetmedbiosci.colostate.edu/bms/
Interested applicants should submit a CV, cover letter, statement of research interests, statement of teaching philosophy, a diversity statement that includes a description of the candidate’s commitment to inclusivity in education and research, and contact information for three professional references by the full consideration deadline of 11:59pm MT on 12/2/2024. Three letters of recommendation will be required for each candidate progressing to an interview. References will not be contacted without prior notification of candidates. Review of applicants will begin after the full consideration deadline and will continue until a successful candidate is found. No mail-in applications or letters will be accepted.
