The Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in cognitive neuroscience to begin Fall 2025. The topic of research is open, but we particularly welcome individuals who could collaborate with current Psychology faculty members. The ideal candidate’s research program would use magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or in combination with other types of brain measurement, brain stimulation, and/or computational modeling, but we welcome applicants who use any cognitive neuroscience methods. UNLV is in the process of opening a federally-funded research-dedicated MRI facility on the main campus. The successful applicant would be expected to (1) maintain a high-quality, fundable research program; (2) mentor graduate and undergraduate students; (3) teach graduate and undergraduate courses related to cognitive neuroscience; and (4) participate in curricular decisions and faculty governance. We welcome early-career applicants who demonstrate potential in these areas. Further, we seek an individual who is committed to fostering an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive.

The Department offers a B.A. in psychology and a B.S. in neuroscience. The Department has 35 full-time faculty members with an APA-accredited Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program and Psychological and Brain Sciences Ph.D. program with cognitive, developmental, and quantitative/social/community areas of study (https://www.unlv.edu/psychology/graduateprograms). Various faculty in the Department of Psychology mentor and teach doctoral students in the campus-wide interdisciplinary Neuroscience Ph.D. program (https://www.unlv.edu/degree/phd-neuroscience).

HOW TO APPLY:

Submit a letter of interest; separate research and teaching statements highlighting their accomplishments and plans; three publications that best represent the research they plan on conducting; a statement detailing how diversity, equity and inclusion inform their professional activities; a detailed resume listing qualifications and experience, and the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of at least three professional references who may be contacted.

References will not be contacted until the search chair notifies you in advance.

Applicants should fully describe their qualifications and experience, with specific reference to each of the minimum and preferred qualifications because this is the information on which the initial review of materials will be based.

Although this position will remain open until filled, review of candidates’ materials will begin on November 1, 2024.

Materials should be addressed to Dr. Joel Snyder, Search Committee Chair, and must be submitted through Workday, as we do not accept emailed materials. For assistance with the application process, please contact UNLV Human Resources at (702) 895-3504 or UNLVJobs@unlv.edu.
