The Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Neuroscience (MPN) in the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University Chicago invites applications for tenure-track Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor faculty positions. Candidates are encouraged to apply who perform research that complements existing department focus areas in neuropharmacology, gut microbiota-brain interactions, neurodevelopment, nanomedicine, drug delivery, neurodegeneration, neural repair, neuropsychiatric diseases, ocular pharmacology, neural control of cardiovascular function, and exosome biology. The MPN department is undergoing an expansion period, with several rounds of faculty hiring planned. As such, newly hired faculty will have the opportunity to help shape the future research focus areas of the department. Successful candidates will be provided with a strong start-up package, modern laboratory space, a competitive salary, and a comprehensive health and retirement benefit structure. New MPN faculty will be expected to develop an extramurally funded research program and contribute to the graduate education mission of the MPN department.
Located on the LUC Health Sciences Campus (HSC) in Maywood, Illinois just 10 miles from downtown Chicago, the MPN department is housed within the Center for Translational Research and Education (CTRE). The CTRE was built in 2016 and, along with the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center, and the Parkinson School of Public Health, is home to over 70 tenure-track faculty members with active research programs. As a member of the vibrant biomedical community of the greater Chicago area, the LUC HSC is not only well-equipped to grow research programs from within, but also ideally situated to build collaborative networks.
As the first medical school in the country to accept DACA students, diversity is at the core of our strategic plan. LUC is an equal opportunity employer that values diversity in social, racial, and ethnic backgrounds, as well as religion, gender, sexual orientation, and philosophical outlooks. LUC promotes a healthy work-life balance and provides support for its faculty.
Required Qualifications: The tenure-track faculty position in the MPN department requires a PhD in Pharmacology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Research, or a related subject area.
Desired Qualifications: It is anticipated that candidates at the Assistant Professor level will develop a research program that obtains federal or private funding, while Associate and Full professor applicants will already hold active R01 (or equivalent) level funding. Review of applications will begin as soon as completed applications are received and will continue until the positions are filled. Reference letters will only be requested from candidates who advance in the interview process.

2) Contribute to graduate education in the Pharmacology and Neuroscience PhD, MS/MBA and MS programs
3) Mentor PhD, MS, and BS level trainees to conduct high-quality, ethically sound research
