Description

The Department of Neuroscience & Physiology/Neuroscience Institute (NI) at NYU Langone Health seeks to recruit a theoretical and/or computational neuroscientist to initiate an innovative, high impact research program and to join our dynamic and collaborative community. The search is open rank; we will consider applications from new investigators seeking their first faculty appointment as well as those with established laboratories. Senior hires would have the ability to aid in developing a multi-PI theory cluster. We are seeking candidates with expertise in developing computational models and a strong interest in collaborating with experimentalists within the Neuroscience Institute (https://med.nyu.edu/departments-institutes/neuroscience/) to test and refine these models.

The NI encompasses an outstanding, interactive group of researchers whose research often combines experimental and computational approaches for understanding brain function. The Institute is housed within a new state-of-the-art science building and participates in a thriving cross-campus graduate program featuring a rich array of scientific seminars and events that promote a collaborative and intellectually stimulating scientific environment. In addition to experimental collaborations, candidates will be able to interact with other computational colleagues at NYU’s Center for Neural Science and the Flatiron Institute.

Qualifications

Candidates must hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree and are expected to have a strong track record of research achievements, ideally including a history of funding, and impactful publications. The successful candidate will also be eager to contribute to strengthening our community through mentoring students, postdoctoral fellows, and junior faculty, and to contribute to our interrelated missions of education and inclusion.

Application Instructions

All application materials should be submitted electronically through Interfolio. The following application components are required: (1) a cover letter that includes a brief summary of your most significant research accomplishment(s); (2) your curriculum vitae; (3) a concise research statement (no more than three pages) that describes your (a) goals/vision for a research program at the NYU Neuroscience Institute and (b) experience and qualifications that ensure that you will readily integrate into our broad, yet collegial neuroscience community; and (4) the names and contact information for three referees. We require that applications are completed online. Applications are due at 5 PM ET on November 15, 2024. The interview process will begin in December 2024. NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for this faculty position is $140,000-$225,000 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, area of research, specialty, and education. The salary range listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
