Post-doctoral Position – HEALthy Brain and Child Development study

The HEALthy Brain and Child Development study at the University of Vermont is currently accepting applications for one post-doctoral associate.  The position is renewable for up to 3 years.  Stipends start from approx. $61,008, depending on previous post-doctoral experience.

The HBCD study (https://hbcdstudy.org/) is the largest long-term study of early brain and child development in the United States.  It will follow approximately 7,200 families from pregnancy through early childhood with an extensive battery of psychological, biological, and neuroimaging assessments. This unique dataset offers an unprecedented opportunity to investigate neurodevelopmental processes in a diverse sample. 

The selected candidate will be based in the University of Vermont Department of Psychiatry and will join a vibrant neuroimaging research community.  We are a data collection site for both the HBCD and ABCD (https://abcdstudy.org/) studies, incorporate many other large datasets in our analyses, and have expertise in “big data” and machine learning methodologies.  The post-doctoral associates will have the opportunity to participate in activities of the Vermont Complex Systems Center, and will have supercomputing capability through the Vermont Advanced Computing Core.  Candidates must have completed doctoral training in psychology, neuroscience, bioinformatics, or a related discipline, and have a record of research in neuroimaging.  A track record and evidence of a scientific interest in neurodevelopment is essential.  Programming experience (MATLAB, Python, R, etc.) will be highly valuable, but is not a prerequisite. 

The post-doctoral position offers a unique and exciting opportunity to analyze a one-of-a-kind large and rich dataset and produce important new insights into the myriad influences on infant and child development. As a post-doctoral researcher, the candidate will have flexibility in designing their own projects.  Consideration will be given to applicants interested in remote work.
