JOB SUMMARY:
The Lab of Dr. Catherine Thorn within the department of Neuroscience is seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist to carry out preclinical and translational research investigating the mechanisms by which vagus nerve activity can enhance neuroplasticity in cortico-basal ganglia motor circuits. Lab techniques combine rodent behavioral training with modern neural recording and manipulation methods, including optogenetics, DREADDS, fiber photometry, and in vivo electrophysiology to investigate the neural substrates of motor learning in healthy subjects and during stroke recovery. Competitive applicants will have experience with one or more such techniques and a track record of productivity, including first-authored publications.
The Research Associate will be primarily responsible for planning, conducting and directing a variety of research experiments, and for the evaluation and interpretation of research data. This position will involve conducting experiments using advanced equipment, applying appropriate methods and protocols.
