Job Details
The University of Wisconsin Department of Psychiatry in Madison, WI, is seeking to recruit a new
tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level.
The Department of Psychiatry has identified brain development, stress and resilience, sleep and
plasticity, as critical areas in which to promote research that will bring major advances to current
knowledge about the origins and early phases of many mental health disorders.
Research can be at any level including areas relevant to genetics, molecular, neurocircuit based
approaches, or psychopharmacology. The UW Department of Psychiatry has strong research
programs with outstanding facilities including a 3T MRI housed in the Lane Neuroimaging Laboratory
located in the Department. UWSMPH along with the entire UW is a leader in translational biomedical
research and offers many opportunities for collaboration with other departments.
Key university resources to support research in mental health disorders include the Health Emotions
Research Institute (HERI), a world-class center with state-of-the-art capabilities for highfield, highresolution
imaging (Lane Neuroimaging Laboratory); the UW National Primate Center and strong
collaborative relationships with faculty in world-renowned research departments and centers such as
the Waisman Center; Wisconsin Institute for Sleep and Consciousness, the Departments of
Psychology, Neuroscience, Pediatrics, and Computer Sciences and Engineering; and the Center for
Healthy Minds at UW.
The successful applicant will also participate in administrative and committee work to support the
