Job Description:

A Postdoctoral Fellow position in neuroinflammation/ neuroscience basic research is available at the University of Louisville KSCIRC under the direction of David Stirling PhD. The incoming postdoctoral fellow will investigate mechanisms of white matter injury and repair following spinal cord injury using in vivo two photon excitation imaging, flow cytometry, and other histological and molecular techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute research experiments. Analyze experimental data and update research notebooks and databases. Read literature relevant to research and training objectives. Prepare manuscripts, grant applications, and written reports. Present oral and poster presentations at group/local meetings, national and international meetings, and attend neuroscience seminars. Train students and technicians. Project planning and execution. Statistical analysis, data interpretation and trouble shooting.

Minimum Requirements:

A PhD or PhD/MD degree in the field of either neuroscience, neuroinflammation or immunology

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous working experience in models of neuroinflammation, spinal cord or head injury research in rodents. The ideal candidate will have shown the ability to perform murine microsurgery, in vivo and ex vivo brain and/or spinal cord imaging (two photon microscopy experience is a strong asset). Relevant Experience in flow cytometry, calcium imaging (strong asset), molecular, and cellular techniques will also be considered.
