Job Details
The Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center seeks outstanding researchers to fill two tenure-track positions at the level of Assistant Professor and Associate Professor. We seek candidates to complement and extend departmental and campus-wide research in neural circuits of mental health, neurodegeneration/Alzheimer’s Disease, and related areas. Research incorporating state-of-the-art in vivo approaches to study neural circuits are encouraged, including optogenetics, chemogenetics, electrophysiology and imaging.
The successful candidate will receive a competitive start-up package and ample laboratory space. Expectations include maintaining a vigorous externally funded research program, providing exemplary mentorship, and contributing to the teaching mission of the department. Successful candidates will have outstanding opportunities to develop collaborations within the department and with members of the UTHSC Neuroscience Institute.

Basic Qualifications:
Applicants must have a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree and excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidates at the assistant professor level are expected to demonstrate strong potential for establishing a rigorous, independent, and federally-funded research program. Appointment as an Associate Professor requires demonstrated sustained extramural grant support, and research and scholarship that are consistent with an appointment to that rank at a research-intensive university.
