Scientist- In Vivo, Vector Design & Optimization
MeiraGTx is a clinical-stage gene therapy company that develops next generation therapies using our highly flexible platform and manufacturing process. The pre-clinical vector design group at MeiraGTx employs high-throughput screening in disease-relevant models and machine learning to engineer new AAV-based gene therapies for diseases of the muscle and central nervous system.
Independent scientists with a strong command of neuroscience-based in vivo and ex-vivo techniques, molecular biology and biochemistry are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in leading scientific projects from conceptualization through analysis. This includes setting project goals, designing and executing experimental strategies, managing timelines, thinking creatively of opportunities to leverage cutting-edge technologies, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to achieve milestones.
Responsibilities
Deliver AAV to rodents using a variety of techniques including intramuscular, retro-orbital, and stereotaxic injections. Optimize and execute NGS-based high-throughput screens in vivo. Perform in vivo and ex vivo bioimaging in rodents. Process tissue samples for subsequent molecular or histological analysis including perfusion, dissection and slicing, immunohistochemistry, imaging acquisition, and data analysis. Collaborate with team members to achieve deadlines and milestones. Record experimental details in an electronic lab notebook and communicate progress and findings to colleagues within and across groups.
Qualifications
Master’s considered, PhD preferred in Neuroscience, Biology or a related field. 3Rs-centered, welfare-oriented approach to animal-based research. Strong technical expertise in advanced in vivo techniques including perfusions, stereotaxic surgeries, bioimaging and histology. Strong organizational and time management skills. Experience in streamlining and optimizing protocols. Advanced NGS techniques (single-cell RNAseq, spatial transcriptomics) or AAV biology experience are a bonus. The salary range for this full-time position is $65,000 - $110,000. Within the range, individual pay and title is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
