The Department of Neurology at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, is recruiting for a full-time faculty member in the In-Residence series at the Professor rank in the field of transcriptomics of ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage and autism spectrum disorders. The candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an active research portfolio that is externally funded. Secondarily, faculty in this series are expected to engage in teaching, demonstrate professional competence and activity, and provide University and public service.

The successful candidate will have an ongoing, funded programs of research in the areas of transcriptomics of ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). The candidate will not only demonstrate excellence in these research areas but also be able to teach and mentor in field to undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, non-faculty academics, and junior faculty members. The candidate will be expected to lead a research group studying human stroke and collaborate with local and national stroke clinicians and researchers, and include the following skills.

• Define and lead research projects on human stroke, including ischemic stroke, ICH and SAH
• Develop and write grants and be a PI on federally funded NIH grants
• Manage research lab operations and personnel
• Prepare, organize and communicate research results through publication and presentations
• Participate in appropriate professional societies and educational organizations
• Participate on grant review committees and give talks at local, national and international conferences
• Provide service to department, school and campus committees
• Ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment
• Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures

The Department of Neurology at the University of California, Davis conducts basic and clinical research on the nervous system and provides clinical care for people with neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia, epilepsy, Parkinson's and Huntington's diseases, tremor, dystonia, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular conditions, headache, and sleep disorders. The department’s faculty includes leading neuroscientists, who work to expand our knowledge of nervous system function, as well as neurologists and psychologists who provide diagnosis and treatment for adults and children. The department offers cutting-edge diagnostic approaches, including advanced neuroimaging technologies, and access to trials of new medications and other therapeutic modalities. The department has an active residency program that enrolls 15 residents. The department also sponsors several post-doctoral fellowships in clinical neurophysiology, clinical neuropsychology, epilepsy, movement disorders, and neurodegeneration and aging.
