San Diego, California
NIH scale
Closing date
May 23, 2024

The Kauffman Lab at U.C. San Diego has openings for up to 2 post-doctoral researchers to study the role of the brain in regulating reproductive hormone secretion as well as the effects of steroid hormones on neural circuits controlling fertility. Research is conducted in normal and transgenic mouse models, addressing the interaction of steroid hormones (testosterone, estrogen, progesterone) and neuropeptides (kisspeptin, neurokinin B, dynorphin, GnRH) in coordinating the brain’s regulation of puberty and reproduction. Lab techniques include a combination of in vivo mouse work and bench work (in situ hybridization and RNAscope, qRT PCR, immunohistochemistry, hormone ELISAs, brain histology and neuroanatomy, microscopy, viral vectors, RNAseq, etc.).

Additional information is on our lab website:

International citizens who do not hold a green card or dual US citizenship are not eligible for this position and will not be considered except for any rare case of an international candidate with excellent research track record and publications specifically in either kisspeptin or GnRH biology, they might be considered, funds permitting.

Individuals should have a background in rodent or mammalian models of neuroscience, physiology, endocrinology, or reproduction, and must have a proven record of productive research (including first-authored published papers).
