The Department of Pharmacology in the Wayne State University School of Medicine (WSU-SOM) invites applications for a pre-faculty fellow position in the general area of Neuroscience as part of the Wayne State University Pathway to Faculty program. Through this program, the pre-faculty fellow, who will join WSU-SOM with the official title Pre-Faculty Fellow, will be guided, mentored and prepared for the acceptance of a tenure-track faculty position in the department. We seek candidates with a doctorate in Neuroscience or a relevant biomedical discipline with less than 3 years of post-graduate training and who have shown great promise in research and scholarship and a desire to pursue a tenure-track position while advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The successful candidate will join a highly dynamic and collegial academic setting and receive strong, comprehensive, inclusive, equitable, diverse, compassionate and stable mentorship to develop into a dynamic, independent neuroscientist working at the leading edge of the discipline.  The candidate will be provided with 2-3 years of funded postdoctoral training to develop the skills necessary for successful transition to a tenure-track faculty position, and then 2-3 years of dedicated funding to initialize an independent research program. The candidate will receive both competitive research support and a stipend, professional development opportunities, as well as generous laboratory space and access to state-of-the-art core facilities in an environment that supports multidisciplinary collaboration. The candidate will be expected to develop an impactful independent research program and contribute to departmental activities. Individuals who identify as members of historically marginalized groups in their chosen field are strongly encouraged to apply.
