(Updated on Feb 13, 2024) The laboratory of Fuzheng Guo, PhD at UC Davis School of Medicine and the Institute for Pediatric Regenerative Medicine (IPRM) of Shriners hospitals for Children, Sacramento CA, is seeking highly motivated and creative postdoc researchers funded by for NIH and foundation grants in the lab. Research interests in the Guo lab are centered on pathogenic mechanisms and therapeutics of brain white matter injury including inherited (for instance, leukodystrophy) and acquired (neonatal hypoxia/ischemia and adult-onset multiple sclerosis) neurological disorders. The lab focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms of glial cell development, injury, and regeneration in the central nervous system, with a particular focus on the role of glial cells in regulating CNS myelination, demyelination, and remyelination in demyelinating disorders. Three (3) postdoctoral researchers will be recruited to conduct the research projects that are aligned with the laboratory interests. Please go to the lab page https://www.guo-laboratory.org/ for details.
We seek highly self-motivated and creative postdoctoral researchers. Successful applicants must have first-authored peer-reviewed publications. Applicants with strong expertise in molecular biology and/or prior experience in animal models of diseases (for example, toxin or inflammation-induced demyelination models, hypoxia-ischemia models) and glial cell characterization are highly encouraged.
Very competitive salary will be provided. Postdoc salary at UC Davis is paid at above the NIH scale. Paid postdoc employees at UC Davis are eligible for health, dental, and vision benefits, vacations, and sick leaves as outlined by UC Davis HR. The three positions will remain open until filled.
The lab is also recruiting 1-2 technicians with bachelor degrees. If interested, please send your CV and letter of intent to fzguo(AT)ucdavis.edu
To apply, interested applicants should forward updated curriculum vitae, research statement, and contact information of 3 references directly to the Principal Investigator, Fuzheng Guo, PhD at fzguo(AT)ucdavis.edu Please indicate "Postdoc Application" in the email subject line.
