The Neurology Laboratory at the University of Utah, Department of Neurology, invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in cellular and animal modeling of neurodegenerative diseases. The Neurology Laboratory is well-funded by NIH, and other funding sources. We seek a highly motivated PhD in a related medical science. Diseases studied include spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related dementias (ADRDs). The postdoc will join a well-established research program focused on developing therapeutics for neurodegenerative disorders. Biochemical systems under study include autophagy, unfolded protein response (UPR) and ribonucleoproteins (RNPs). 

Applicants should be highly motivated, have a Ph.D., a strong background in biochemistry, genetics, or molecular biology, and a strong publication record. Outstanding communication skills and excellent references are required. Experience with in vivo use of compounds, ASOs, or AAVs is a plus, as is a drive to rigorously characterize pathways by western blotting, quantitative PCR, and immunohistopathology.
