The Department of Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Houston invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor for applicants with research interests in developmental or behavioral neuroscience. We seek individuals investigating the regulation of animal behavior or neural development in a non-mammalian model system. This position will be affiliated with the Division of Cell and Molecular Biology, which has existing strengths in behavioral genetics, computational genetics, cancer biology, and the biology of development and regeneration.
The successful applicant will establish and maintain nationally competitive, externally funded research programs, engage in constructive mentoring, and participate in graduate and undergraduate teaching in cellular neuroscience. The position requires a Ph.D. and significant relevant academic experience. The Department of Biology and Biochemistry has state-of-the-art laboratory space, well-equipped core facilities, and extensive high-performance computing resources. Excellent opportunities exist for research collaborations within the University of Houston as well as at the Texas Medical Center and other local institutions.
