Postdoctoral Research Scientist

An NIH-funded post-doctoral position is available in the Audio-Visual Multisensory Integration Laboratory, Department of Neuroscience at the University of Rochester School of Medicine.   

Our research is focused on understanding how single neurons and populations of cells in the primate prefrontal cortex process, integrate and remember face and vocalizations information that is relevant in social communication.  Our work includes:  extracellular neurophysiological recording during perception and working memory in nonhuman primates; tract tracing of neuronal circuits; quantitative and computational analysis of neurophysiological data. 

A PhD in Neuroscience, Physiology, Cognitive Science or related field and prior experience with extracellular neurophysiology in animals, and good communication skills are required. The work is in the laboratory of Dr. Romanski and collaborations at the local, national, and international level are possible. The neuroscience community at the University of Rochester School of Medicine boasts a large number of faculty in a dozen centers and departments including Neuroscience, Brain and Cognitive Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, and the Center for Visual Science.  The appointment is initially for one year and is renewable, for up to 4 years.
