Job Details
A postdoctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Seungwon (Sebastian) Choi in the Psychiatry Department Neuroscience Division at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
The Choi lab aims to define the functional organization of ascending somatosensory circuitry and to use this knowledge to reveal how internal states and disorders of the nervous system shape our sense of touch and pain. Working as a team member of the lab, the successful candidate will utilize mouse genetic tools in conjunction with anatomical, physiological, and behavioral approaches to study the function and dysfunction of ascending somatosensory pathways.
Candidates must hold Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree(s). Research experience in systems neuroscience with a track record of leading projects to publication is preferred. Candidates with experience in electrophysiology, functional imaging, and behavioral analysis are strongly encouraged to apply. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to direct independent projects in a multi-disciplinary and collaborative research environment with a variety of neuroscience research resources available at UT Southwestern Medical Center.
More information on the PI and the lab can be found on the faculty profile page (https://profiles.utsouthwestern.edu/profile/205902/seungwon-choi.html) and the lab website (https://schoilab.org/). Information on our postdoctoral training program and benefits can be found in our Postdoc Handbook or at http://www.utsouthwestern.edu/postdocs.
