Translational/Clinical Research in Alzheimer’s Disease & Other Dementias
Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Empire Innovation
SUNY Upstate Medical University (Syracuse, NY) invites applications from scientists with a record of high quality, original research related to Alzheimer’s Disease or other Dementias. This tenure-eligible appointment will include a generous startup package with support from the SUNY Empire Innovation Program (SUNY EIP).
All areas of AD or ADRD research will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with clear translational and clinical relevance.
The successful candidate will join a thriving Neuroscience community of over 40 investigators with broad research expertise in cellular, molecular, genetics, electrophysiology and behavioral approaches and a focus on human disease. Areas of strength of our community include age-related neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s and other dementias, neuropsychiatric disorders, neural circuit plasticity, nervous system development, structure and function of the retina, retinal degeneration and glaucoma, and epigenomics. Our research is supported by state-of-the-art imaging, genomics, proteomics, and computational facilities, and growing Biobank capabilities. In addition, our associated hospitals offer extensive services for the management of AD & ADRD within our community through the clinical departments of Geriatrics, Neurology and the Neurodegenerative Disorders Center (https://www.upstate.edu/neurodegenerative/).
The ideal candidate is a mid-career or senior faculty with a strong record of research and current external funding (R01/R01-equivalent) who is ready to play a leadership role within our AD-ADRD research community. Nonetheless, applicants with MD, MD-PhD, or PhD, at all career levels, including postdoc with early career development awards, will be considered. This recruitment is a joint effort by the departments of Geriatrics, Neurology, Neuroscience & Physiology, Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences, and Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences.
